Currency Converter

Live currency conversion using daily exchange rates for major world currencies.

How This Tool Works

The Currency Converter provides indicative exchange rate conversions between major world currencies. Enter an amount in one currency to see the approximate equivalent in another. Note that this tool provides reference rates — actual rates used in bank transfers, credit card transactions, and currency exchanges include a spread (margin) that varies by provider and transaction type. Always check your bank or exchange provider's actual rate before a financial transaction.

How to Use

  1. Enter the amount to convert in field A.
  2. Select or enter the source and target currency codes in field B (e.g. USD, EUR, GBP, INR).
  3. Click Run. The converted amount is shown at the current indicative rate.
  4. For large transactions: always verify with your bank or exchange provider — the actual rate will differ.

Common Questions

Why does my bank's rate differ from the calculator?

Banks and exchange services add a spread (their profit margin) to the mid-market rate. The mid-market rate is the midpoint between buy and sell rates. Banks typically offer rates 1–3% away from mid-market; specialized FX services (Wise, Revolut) offer rates much closer to mid-market.

What is a mid-market rate?

The mid-market rate (interbank rate) is the midpoint between the highest buying price and the lowest selling price in the global currency markets at any moment. This is the 'true' exchange rate — the reference point shown by Google and financial data providers.

How often do exchange rates change?

Major currency pairs change continuously during trading hours — rates fluctuate second by second in liquid markets. Rates for minor currencies or exotic pairs may be less liquid and change less frequently.
